1.4L AEX Gear box - Very very noisy

My Gear box its very very whiny, it grinds and growls mainly in seccond gear when decelerating, but 3rd gear can be very very loud (not loud in acceleration),  but my 95 Seat ibiza with the AEX engine also did this!! i don't remember it being this loud though,  that had only done 60K miles on the clock. my golf has 100k + .   is this normal for the AEX or is it knackerd?   It seems to work fine. selects gears ok and never jumps out or anything.  just very noisy   

Any advice on this would be much appreciated.

souds like ya gearbox is knackered mate u can either recon that box or get a replacement from scrap yard
