16v Springs on non-GTI MK2?
« on: 18 April 2007, 11:38 »
Hi Guys,

Im picking up my new MK2 Golf CL in a few days time but was wondering if anyone has put 16v Springs on a non GTI golf before? (Id say someone has alright! lol)

Ive a set of standard 16v springs from my GTI lying in the shed unused so was thinking about firing them on, but if it doesnt drop it a whole load I dont see the point in doing all the work... Id really like a low euro look so I think it probably wont drop the car anywhere near what I want?

If anyone has a pic of a MK2 driver/CL/etc on 16v springs I would be most happy

Oh and I tried search and went thru 10 pages before posting this up  :nerd: hehe

CHEERS!

If you want the low "euro" look then don't put standard 16v springs on.

Buy a set of lowered springs with matching shocks or if you're feeling flush then get some coilovers.
08.03.10 - 3, maybe 4 weeks, and I want my golf back on the road!

Thought so...

Probably go for half decent springs and shocks instead then. Coilovers are very expensive and I dont really need any adjustability either.

16v is 30mm lower than a std MK2, problem is the engine is heavier so you'll find that the front may sit a bit higher!

Well I fired them on to see what they looked like.

It sits approx 30mm lower at the back and 20mm lower at the front so it deffo went down...

Needless to say I've already ordered a new set of shocks and springs as Im not really into the raised front look

Worth a try anyway lol
