   good luck with the house... don't think mine would be suitable for you because its:

Manual and not DSG
3-door and not 5-door
an Edition 30 and not a standard GTI

good luck with the move into the housing market illyan, i think u should buy the R32 With dsg, you will always think "oh i wish i bought one of those instead", kinda like the edition 30 didnt quite hit the mark, good as it is but will never be the "FULL SUNDAY ROAST " as the r32 is.

I know, but it does in my case because that money is going to be invested and recouped within 3-4 months - I just hope I know what I'm doing

DSG reliability - you might wanna pop over to one of the UK TT forums, because the DSG was used first in the TT 3.2.

If anyone would have come across any long term reliability issues, I guess they would be the first to know!

I've decided to go with DSG as I was thinking about what to go for today as I drove back from Bristol to Ipswich.  The M4 was congested and then the M25 was closed on 3 lanes so I decided to do a 1 1/2 hour country blast from Reading to Watford via countless villages and country lanes.  The manual was great fun but I thought 'is this it'... the DSG would have been faster and although maybe not quite as involving it allows you to explore other areas of the car like speed   In every other area DSG wins hands-down.
