I have coilovers. The offset was '0' on the 9's and wasnt too bad. I didnt mess with the arches but if i did it could have gone lower

The tyre size i had was 215/45. I should have gone 195.45

Mmmm, helios blue! I've gone for the 8,5's now all round, they'll be posted out to me at the end of next week, so should have them the middle of the week after next... Looks like no one has a arch rolling tool in Cork, so I'm going to just buy the tool I think.

@Lewy: Did you use the tool yourself, or did you have your neighbour do it for you? Was it easy?

A friend of mine is a manager in a tyre shop, and he said he'll open up after hours and we can go mad tring all the tyre's to make sure I get exactly what I want, so thats working out perfect. He has a caddy himself and did the same for his wheels, so that works out well!

My neighbour bought the tool in the states for his Lupo, but I've used it more than him! To roll the arches is a doddle, all you may need is some sikaflex (bodykit bond) to bond the arch back on to the wing, because where you roll the arch you'll roll the rivet holes back and have nothing to secure the plastic arch back on.

I think the tool is about £250, but there are quite a few bodyshops around that have made their own. Try some local body shops to you, as £250 to use a few times is a bit of an outlay. I think there is a place near London that were charging £80 a corner, which I think is extortionate!!

As for tyres, if you want stretch go for 195/45/15, but if you don't want stretch 215/45/15's are probably the best fit. 50 profile tyres look too chunky for my liking, as I fitted 50's to my old wheels when I sold them and I didn't think the wheels looked as good.

Would you recommend I practiced rolling an arch on some piece of crap before I do my own car, or is it that easy I could just start straight away on my own car?

Looking for the stretch alright, will try a few 195/45's so and see which have the nicest thread pattern, now we're getting into detail

I'd use the sikaflex to stick the plastic arches to the actual body panel?

I was thinking of buying the machine, seeing that no body shop in Cork has one I could easily rent it out to people for their own use, or do it for them, hopefully that way it would pay for itself then, just a thought. £80 a corner   did they call a rape crisis center afterwards, I'd feel sore after paying that much! Thanks for all the help lewy, I'd be up the creek without a clue without all this.

Also, are your arches standard or G60? I can never tell the difference :undecided:

@Mew: If you do find where those tools were let me know, might be able to save a few quid!

Cheers,

Alan

Yeah the sikaflex is used to bond the arch onto the body, and the arches are std 16v jobbers, I'm not a fan of G60 ones.
