Any updates on this?

Any discernable improvements in driveability, performance, economy, etc?

Car feels a bit smoother and a little pacier but that may be to do with the fact it was serviced at the same time as the upgrade.  Nothing earth shattering though.

Well, unless it was a 40k service, then all they basically do is change the oil and filter, and kick the tyres - and that won't make the car any faster at all - no matter how much they fleeced you for the privelidge!  :smug:

So, what is the model year, transmission, and engine codes?

I only get custody of the car on a weekend as my wife drives it to work.  I'll check it out on Saturday.

I only drive my GTI on weekends also. Got the Vectra SRi during the week. I feel posh changing cars like that
Im glad i do because during the week, the vectra gets a battering of bird poop and people always catch the wing mirrors where i park. The GTI stays in garage and only comes out over the weekend which means it looks super slick and clean

I too only get the GTI for the weekends, as SWMBO uses it for work!  Sadly, I just have to "put up" with my <sigh> RS4 <sigh> during the week.  :embarassed:

Not really!

One thing that is very noticeable - the steering wheel on the GTI feels like it is from a bus - feels huge !!!!

Spoke to dealer reference this ecu remap, and it doesnt cover all GTi's, mine apparently, the chassis number doesnt fall in their band of Golf GTi's that require this remap.cars somewhere from late 05 reg to late 55 and early 06 plate cars.  mines was a 1k5 and models with 1k6 in the chassis number require a visit to the dealership, again not a safety re-call, just a running update for when the cars come in for service blah blah blah.
