It is actually the valve "stems" - on my GTI, and RS4, the stems are metal, and are bolted into the rim, and have an electrical pressure sensor and transmitter actually inside the tyre. On Illys pics of his Ed30, he seems to have the old skool rubber valves, which don't have any kind of pressure sensor.I am aware that the Golf TPMS uses the ABS wheel speed sensors, and measures differencies in rotational speeds, but this is nowhere near as accurate, nor as quick as the systems which also use actual pressure sensors. The earlier ones must use a combination of both systems. Looks like more cost-cutting!I too should of been clearer, the valve stems are now plastic...
