They are released officially in Jan 2005.
I have been driving one this evening at my local VW dealer.

Lets just say....! I want one. 2.0 l turbo with virtually no lag. Pulls like the diesels in high gears but sounds good and keeps pulling. I'm very impressed with performance and the look of this amazing car. Better than wasting your money on any of those out of date BMW's    Ha!

I have a GTI DSG on test drive at the moment (all weekend) and I have to say, im well impressed.? I WAS looking at the A3 Sportback, but saw the GTI yesterday and was, well, stunned.

As far as DSG goes, nice piece of technology, but it takes away too much of the driving experience for me.? To easy to get lulled into the Auto mode of driving, and prefer to have that extra control of a manual.

The car is, I feel, lacking a little in performance, but Im sure that a trip to AwesomeGTI will render that comment pointless.? The engine is smooth and yet delivers good even power when needed.? An extra 50PS will sort it I think.

The ride is superb, combined with the spec, it beats the A3 sportback on price by a long way, and the materials used are on a par with Audi.

I am an Audi purist, and I own the TT Forum, but this has suprised me, pleasantly so, to the point that I will not be buying the A3, but the Golf GTI (got to have a baby carrier!!).

Go on, take it for a test drive, you'll love it!!

Brought this old topic back because people used words like 'stunned' about the MK5 GTI.
For the Mk6 de silva designed GTI they use words like 'nice'.

Enough said.

the current "GT" is capable of 8.9secs.

I reckon the 200bhp GTI will be 7.4secs.

Cool, that would make it slower than the outgoing model, which makes it in 7.0 for the manual and 6.7 for the DSG.
