Koni / Eibach - I've read all the archives
« on: 03 February 2004, 14:35 »
I bought my 95 16v with 40mm lowering springs and standard shocks, the ride was awful, bouncing round corners and bone shattering over uneven roads.

I immediately swapped back to the standard set up, which I've now decided in just as bad, but in different ways. It handles like a barge.

Having read all the previous posts, I'm considering the above suspension., but I've got a few questions:

1) Will the ride be as good / better than standard?  I've seen peoples praises of the kit, but I can't help thinking that they are prepared to put up with a harsher ride in return for much better handling.

2) Where is the best place to buy it? AMD are about 45mins from me.

3) Because the kit is adjustable, does that mean that someone like AMD will set it up alot better than a normal local garage or is it just a case of off with the old and on with the new?

Sorry to bring up this topic, but the kit is expensive and I want to make sure I'm happy

Thanks for any replies

Kris

Okay, thats that sorted ;)

What about if I used Eibach ARB's with the standard suspension set up?

Would this reduce the body roll noticeably? It's a cheaper option than the koni / eibach set-up.

Get yourself a set of eibach springs and check over your shocks when you fit them..

Im running eibach springs with standard shocks (new gas on front and new oil's on rear) and it handles like a go kart and give a decent ride...you can get them cheap from:

www.motorsportworld.co.uk  Lots of discounted products v.good!

If you want the ultimate in handling and ride then go for eibachs and koni adjustables....if you can afford it to pay a fortune for the koni's  :o
