Gearbox Linkage
« on: 12 April 2007, 12:10 »
hey
so it finally came today,my new gearbox linkage for my golf.Ended up buying one from america and it took 2 weeks to come.
Now its here im looking for your guidance though please. When i go to fit all the new parts;Shift rods and new bushings,i have one thing i need to know. When i am going to remove the old parts will the rods just pop off? or does the whole assemble needing to be dismantled?Just wondering whether for example changing the bushings where there are connecting metal rods,do i just push the rods out, take the old bushing out and pop the new one in,then put it al bak together?
Heres a pictures of the kit so you know what bits it is im putting on and and help would be appreciated.
 Thanks again in advance

check out the linkage FAQ in the MK2 maintenance + info section, the MK3 rod change setup is almost identical.  I don't see a relay shaft included in that lot, though I think GSF sell em.

its dead easy - did it without the book

the realy shaft bushing made by far the most difference - you can only buy it with a new relay shaft from GSF and its about £17 - bit of a rip - there is a guy on this forum who has knocked up a bunch of them - he may have some left
