Suspension Kits???
« on: 10 April 2007, 12:14 »
Hey Guys,

I have a MK2 Golf GTI 92K Reg
I need help in choosing a good suspension kit which gives good performance but that it’s still comfortable to drive, as a drive every day to work and I feel like I’m hitting a rock the car just feels crap and just want to sort it out

At the moment I have Bilstein street line kit on and not happy they are about 2 years old.

Can someone please recommend me some decent suspension kits I thought about the Koni SSK any Good??? I also wanted to lower the back by 35m and the front by 40 and preferably not coilovers as I don’t feel I need them. All I need is performance and a smooth ride.

Please help need to cruise not hit rocks. lol, lol…

i would say if you want to lower and have comfort you will have to go for coilovers, i`ve got solid front top mounts and kw coilovers and you`d be surprised how smooth it is, and v/good handling. coilovers all the way for me.
you should also check the other things on your suspension for wear i.e wishbones, ball joints etc as if these are worn it will not be helping

if you don't want coilovers go for the tried and tested koni shocks/eibach springs or koni shocks and h&r springs. the latter combo gave an awesome ride. felt like factory for comfort but was great under pressure.

Eibach Springs
Koni adjustable shocks or Boge Gas if money is tight.
Replace inner and outer wishbone bushes (whole new wishbones with bushes in is easier!)
new ball joints.
new arb wishbones bushes if shot
new steering rack bushes if shot
new rear beam bushes if shot.

should sort it.

sharpie, if you got boge gas in yours, what else are you rocking, any lower or anything? as your local i need to feel riding in gas again sometime, if youll take me oot, ill give ya some dolalrs or a couple of beerss  as ive only ever done it once and not conciously(sp?)

im still worried aobut the whole gas being harder and bumpier than oil.. someone told me with gas youd feel yourself drive over a snail lol

boge cos they're decent for the money! for springs i'd defo go for eibachs, but i'm sitting on apex -40mm just now cos that's what came with the car.

as organisys says, get the bushes checked out cos they'll make a massive difference.

haha i'll take you out at the weekend if you fancy it, but only if i get my bits fae the garage this week
