Is it worth Selling?
« on: 09 April 2007, 12:56 »
Hi All,

I have a Mk2 1.6 Driver sat on my driveway not doing much, currently have a mk3 as a daily drive.   The question now is do I sell the MK2 or try to bring it back to life.

Current issue.
Bad Bits
1. Cant keep it on the driveway for an long time.
2. Engine has given up so needs replacing with something else.
3. Tiny bit of rust here and there (nothing Major)
4. My misses wants me to get rid of my dream.
5. I dont have the money to go out and get another MK2 for ages.

Good Bits.
1. Its black and 3 door - just what i want.
2. apart from the engine the rest of the car is in good condition.
3. I am not looking to have a GTI engine, but i would like a reliable low milage engine (maybe something out of a MK3 or other)
4. I love the MK2.

I could sell the parts i have on it and then scrap the rest but i feel to many people do this, and the Mk2 deserve better than being raped for parts and chucked on the scrap heap.

Sell or not sell?

no offence but its not worth much as parts, as most are not really any kind of upgrade to a gti. if the shell is in reeeeealy good nick, keep it in good condition until you can afford to fix it up.

but if it was me i'd get shot of it and buy something complete when you have the funds to do so. the longer it sits on your drive the worse condition it'll get unless you plan on working on it alot. plus as a base for a project car you'd still be better off with a gti with a knackered engine.

what a mk3 driver? i guess so, the only real problem i guess could be wiring depending on if you have early or late wiring.....

no mate, as it was a replacement lump, but what i can say, is it starts first time everytime, it doesn't smoke whatso-ever, and there is not even a hint of rattle comin from the lifters, doesn't burn oil etc etc, it really is as sweet as a nut, it's out of a J'plate too....
