Golf Mk6?
« on: 07 April 2007, 10:30 »
I keep reading posts about people saying 'maybe they'll fix this in the Mk6' and 'The Mk6 will have this' etc etc.  Does anyone actually know when a Mk6 Golf is likely to emmerge?!
I'm still waiting for my Ed30 Mk5 to arrive and am a little worried that I might only have it for 6 months or something before they bring out a newer model?!

Surely if the Golf has been around for 30 years and is currently on Mk5, it must be about 5-6 years per version?  The Mk5 has only been out since about mid 2003, so surely it wont be due a replacement for at least another year or 2?!?!

I have consistently heard that the Mk6 is coming out next year... I was planning on getting a Mk5 R32 next year but have heard that all 3-door Golfs will be sportier and lightweight while the 5-doors will become something like the Golf Plus although I think thats just rumours.

It was sent back to the drawing board on looks and quality this year by the new head of VW Martin Winterkorn. So the time scale that was set in place by the previous head Bernt Pischetsrieder is sort of up in the air.

Yup,

I read the same in Autotrader a few months back. The item also mentioned that they had to simplify the production process to get down the amount of hours it would take to produce each one. Again it smacks of cost saving and corner cutting. I just hope that they don't go backwards in trying to move forwards...if you get my drift.

Just found this on another forum: http://www.auto-motor-und-sport.de/news/auto_-_produkte/hxcms_article_502994_14140.hbs

Apparently its going to be out next summer?

It kinda sucks waiting for a new car when you know there will be a newer model in a year!

According to someone I spoke to "on the inside" they have brought the release of the Mk6 forward by 2 years because the Mk5 is not selling well and it costs so much to build. 2 years I say???  I reckon its a disaster in the making. It seems to me VW are all about cutting corners recently!!!

If Walter de Silva gets his hands on the restyle it will be a mess just look at the current SEAT range for what may happen.

Looks like a bloody BMW 1 series, apparently the mk5 costs more to make than they sell them for, that will be the reasoning I think.

Probably got lost in the "Great Crash of 08
