I'm having problems with my clutch cable

I thought i would take it out, and take the clutch pedal off and grease it up because it was so juddery.  Well it worked, but now my clutch is WAY out of adjustment,   Its gone really hard and springy and slips like crazy when driving, it will only just bite.

This seems to be down to the auto adjuster ratchet thing.   Nothing i do to the adjuster seams to work and it totally locks up on me every time.   Do i need a new one?

And ... Can i fit a manual adjusting cable? my clutch is near the end anyway and its riding to high even when the auto adjuster is at the end.

I need to get this sorted First thing tomorrow morning so really i need to know if the manual cable will fit because i don't fancy faffing about with another bloody auto adjuster when im in a rush!

Thanks :)

Sounds like the adjuster has locked (they seem to do this when they go fully adjusted and you can't unadjust them which i found out on a new cable when the clip's that hold them shut came off).... New cable time I'm afraid!!!!

you will have to try a manual adjust cable and hope for the best....just make sure you get the correct one as they changed around 94/95

Thanks for the advice,  your absolutely correct, the ratchet had locked up.  The only manual adjuster they had was to long so i put a new auto adjuster on. Seemed to do the job.
