Nerd type wiper question
« on: 03 April 2007, 09:23 »
Sorry for the daft question, but I noticed on my R32 I don't get that extra wiper action a few sseconds after the normal 3 sweep's.
Is this a fuction that's can be controlled by a grease monkey and a laptop, or maybe something that's been dropped on 2007 models.

It should only work (the "extra" delayed sweep) if you just pull the washer lever towards you.  If you move the lever up or down, I think it over-rides this extra wipe.

And yes, it can be enabled using VAG-COM - just don't ask me how!

I didn’t move the stalk up or down, I just pulled it towards me, but it was in the one up from lowest position. So auto wipe position. If that makes sense.  :nerd:

Not sure if it was my imagination, but on my GT TDi I thought the wipers parked themselves a few seconds after being used.

Yeah, they do that on my GTI, and also on the Golf Plus courtesy car we have ATM . . .

I'll check on my ed30 as I'm sure that in the past when I've had it in auto wipe mode that it doesn't do the extra wipe. Also if the car stands still after you've used the windscreen washer it doesn't do the extra wipe.
