Exhaust sytems
« on: 06 March 2003, 20:15 »
Hi eveyone.Just a quick question about exhaust systems.Does anyone know of any good ones for a MK3 8V GTI?I've just bought the car and it has a DTM backbox on it that doesn't fit very well and is basically sh!te so i want to change the system. Also, does anyone know about de-catting them as i was wondering what would happen at an MOT test due to emissions, etc. Many thanks appreciated in this matter.Feel free to e-mail me personally on this

Hi,

I've got a Magnex twin 3" stainless steel exhaust on my 8v GTi - fits fine and looks good too (when it's all shiny and clean).  It is not loud at all so the neighbours don't complain!

As far as de-catting goes - I think it's actually illegal to have a road-going car after 1990(?) without a cat.  Don't know if MOT tests check for the presence of a cat, or just test the emissions...

Not saying don't do it - just don't get caught  ;)

Got a remus twin square and it sounds sweet.  You can get rid of the cat it helps cut down emitions.  In order to pass your MOT you have to have low ones and when you remove the cat  and you car will throw out more crap so you most likely will not pass your MOT with it off

hi there, looking to fitt new exhaust system on a standard vr6 highline.  My local auto shop" CHAUCER MOTOR FACTORS" has recommended MAGNEX.  As  I asked for  "quiet". However i want bhp approx 10-15 break.  If its not going to improve hp ill keep the standard. Anyone have the "Quiet Relvolution" but with the hp
