upsolute chip question...
« on: 02 February 2004, 08:34 »
Have decided after 1 month... that it is time to go upsolute.
Have had a quote for ?300 fitted... which seems good.
A couple of questions... I am being told that perhaps a Forge 007P DV would also be a good idea.  Now, being new to the game, would this mean a whoosh sound every time I pushed in the clutch?  Do not really want that as I am too old to be a boy racer!! If not, what difference would it make?
Also, I have been told to upgrade my N75 valve to a J valve.  What the hell does this mean?
Thanks in advance for any answers, am dead excited about the upgrade and am hoping it will make a noticable difference to the car.
Oh, one more thing... I have also been told that it is 'switchable' between standard and upgrade files, is this possible on all gti T's?  I do not have cruise control and thought you could onle switch if you had that?

THANKS!!

fastfun, I had my 1.8T ('99 model) upsoluted a couple of weeks ago...a noticable difference is the biggest understament of the centrury!!! It is a COMPLEYELY different car...so much more responsive and much much faster!!

- I replaced my N75 with the J valve at the same time, I think this is something to do with holding the boost for longer so you have more power closer to the redline.

- re the dump valve, I didn't bother with getting mine upgraded, yet. The Forge one WON'T give you the pssst sound when you dump your clutch (ala rude boy styleee), it's just a stronger valve so it can cope with the much higher boost you will be holding (up from about 6psi to about 19psi!)

Have fun!!!

i had my gtiT revo'ed which is the same sort of thing as the upsolute thingy. but it was not performing like i thought it would so i took it to a rolling road to see what was up, the guy there said it could be a number of things ie maf/dv/revo software. so i brought a baily dv30 for ?99 as i know the vw one was very poor,it took about 10 min's to fit, and this has sorted out the problem.the car now go's like stink i have yet to take it back to the rollers but will do soon.So my advice is get a recuircelating dv(sos's about the spelling) such as a dv30 and then you dont get that rs turbo niose becouse the air is sent back to the airbox and not let lose to attract attention..hope this helps..Starry :P

no panic its all simple. the rs turbo niose is the ppoowwsh after you come of the gas to change gear. forge 007 and bailey dv30 are the best ones to go for as for the recirculating it just means you dont hear it outside the car. as the air goes back into the airbox.. any other prob's  let me know as i only learnt this stuff from asking on here and asking tunners...
