Picked up my 2007 GTI today!
« on: 31 March 2007, 19:56 »
Well ive finally got one, first impressions are very good!! car quick from low revs , which i like having owned a 320d, You are always going about 20 mph faster than you think!. The seats are ace (leather), Looks fab in metallic grey. IPOD and multifunction wheel work well together.
just done a 25 mile trip to work on M1 36 MPG! brilliant car.
The ride is a little harder than I expected , although I have been driving about in my wifes 1.0 corsa, so that may be something to do with it, and It is a million times better than my old 2003 Civic type R.
So glad I spent a little more and didnt get a Focus ST
steel grey, 5 door , leather, parking sensors, IPod, 18" monza,MF wheel,  K&N filter , smoked rear lights and mirror indicators,,, no remap..... yet!!

Hi
I too picked up a Steel Grey GTi two weeks ago after 3 years of a 320d, so I know what you mean about low down torque in the GTi.  The drop off of power at 4000 rpm in the BMW used to drive me nuts!

First impressions for me on the drive home from the dealer, was that the ride was much firmer than I remembered on test drives.  So checked the typre pressure to find they were at about 55psi, probably set by VW for long term storage.  Got mine at 34psi now and is much better.  Might be worth checking if you haven't already (don't forget to reset the tyre pressure monitor).
2007 GTi, DSG, 18" Monza IIs, leather, tinted glass, parking, ipod prep, hill hold, cruise, highline and not forgetting - open grille fog light surrounds!
