rite i lost my only set of keys for my mk2 golf and does anybody no if i cld take the vin code of ignition barrel nd go down to vw nd gt a key cut because i heard you can do this now please help

the last place iworked we got a stolen focus recovered in to us with no keys so we took the chassis number and got a key cut at ford but this will only work if the car is on the original lock set
