Whats good or bad about them

 ive found one with front end damage at a gie away price on a 51 plate

any opinions  ?

prob the best balanced vw engine out there from a performance point of view, i really like them, most people over look them.. which is crazy im my mind. dont see alot of them in older golfs either, if i wasnt into my g60 16v's so much i would prolly put one in my car .  :wink:

the v5 is a good motor sounds nice  but the insurance is high and if you are thinking of tuning it it can get very expensive

Nah im just looking at stickimg some wheels on it bit of smoothing and rolling round in it , tho with front end damage its ripe for a BORA front end , ill see what it goes for

I've got the V5 Passat ('02 plate) and it is a cracking motor. Had a few faults with it, but sorted out under warranty, and she is as smooth as silk now. Plenty of power and plenty of torque. It's not as aggresive as my VR6 was but it surprises a few people when you stick your foot down, and it still pulls in over 30 mpg when I drive, and more when the misses uses it.
I don't own this anymore - I just can't be arsed to change the picture

Anyone know what a v5 on a V plate is worth. 5 door in black 120k on the clock
