Have My 1st Real technical problem.....
« on: 30 March 2007, 16:48 »
Ok
seem to have a problem with my GTi, driving along doing 80 mph cruise with the radio off., and engine is doing just a tad under 2900 rpm. i seem to be getting some weird noise.........
It sounds like you know when the car is reving at say 5000rpm and your holding it reading to floor, the engine note you can hear is obviously high more noticable in the cabin, well its doing that but engine is only doing correct revs but has like a 2nd engine running at alot higher speed in the background??????, ok where's my pills!!!!. no seriously , its very weird, you can hear it build up and then just stops. doesnt effect the cars performance , responds as normal, Could this been anything to do with the DSG gearbox????, its not an harmonic sound like loose baffle on exaust or anything simple, sounds just like a 2nd engine running at higher rpm in the background, or just like your passing a "rude bouy in his sh!troen Saxo with large exaust!! like you can hear a passing car on a motorway??? anyone have any kind of help with this, experianced the same? and no i dont need to see a shrink as most peeps on here think i already do!!!. cheers chaps

Something to do with the speed sensors interfering with the speakers or amps to them ? making the noise

mate of mines MK3 had a noise when in 3rd if he turned the radio off , would get louder as he got faster

yes it does sound like a fan cut in and then out, but considering im doing 80mph for it to sound like a car next to me with a "blown" deep exaust note, im confused. i wasnt sat in traffic previously so car overheat fan cutting in or anything, so unless the ecu is playing silly buggers like it normally does with the rear wash wipe, anything is possible i surpose. i will run it 2morrow down the motorway to see if i can get it to do it again. it defently wasnt road noise or tyre rumble, its a regular stretch of motorway i use and havent noticed this before. :undecided:

Phil,

I've got rusty wheel hubs and I'm interested as to who you complained to, the dealer or VW?  Do you know how they are repairing them, paint?

cheers.

i just spoke to the sailsman in the dealership who sold me it, after pointing out about the laquer peeling from the monza II alloy on the nearside front, thought id say, "can anything be done about my "Red rusty Wheels aswell plz, and show'd him the rears, as they are the ones that seem to be most effected, and he said yep, no problem, ill get that sorted whilst the alloy is repaired,  and on another + they are letting me have their DVB R32 manual for a day whilst mines in!!!!, so have broken my golden rule, hope i hate it! otherwise new seed will be planted!, oh no, there goes my bank balance!
