more done today, of all days today was the day i least wanted my welding to be a bit off. half way thought i realised that my gas was running out so had to pop over to machine mart to get some more gas. got some of the Argon/CO2 mix any found it works alot better.

new gas and some spare wire

overview of the project

found it was lot better at making lower sitting welds (this was on the lowest power too)

all welded up, ive seamed it all up because ive heard of stories of spot welding causing rust to come thought the paint after 12 months. To stop it warping the body i welded 1 inch at a time, and used a wet cloth to cool it all down

lined up quite nicely

tis amazing how a good camera can lie

got all the V5 and reciepts for the car over the weekend finally. it had a gearbox put into it in 1999 costing £300. and the rest is general servicing stuff.

painting my subframe atm, hopefully with have that finished in the next few days.

also been welding my rear panel on. Bit gutted cause my new gas has already run out. looks like there must have been a loose connection somewhere and its all leaked out  :( think im going to look for a bigger bottle so i can fit and forget.

anyways the panel, welded on a bit  :( car is looking a bit sorry for itself atm

need to find some golf at a scrapyard so i can get these missing panels (anyone got any?)

thanks for looking

ello, had a nice day for once, got the welder out and started on the rear corners

one side sort of done, welding upside down is an absolute basta*d.

and then started on the other side

front subframe coming together a bit

few more bits awaiting the rust preventive treatment,

getting there! coated the bare metal today to stop any surface rust developing in the damp conditions we have got atm, well pleased with how its looking. still got to use filler but got some small rust patches still to treat.
