I've just bought a new 2.0 GTI T from Motorpoint in Derby and as i've seen there are a few issues regarding imports that someone may be able to answer.
Import, or genuine UK spec?
My first question is what category alarm is fitted as standard? I would assume alarm/immobiliser but i'd just like to be sure.
Official UK models have a Cat 1 fully integrated alarm/immobiliser. Imports - dunno, but they certainly won't be Thatcham approved, and will therefore affect your insurance!
Second question is regarding the speakers. I have grills in the rear but no sound is coming out and i have no fade option on the cd player so i'm assuming the worst that there are no wired speakers in there at all.
Oh dear, it does look like you have an import, as all UK Golfs, even the poverty spec ones, have front and rear speakers!
If this is the case could anyone advise me in how much fitting speakers in the rear could cost as it would involve wiring and taking off panels.
Cost wise - dunno, not my area of expertise. Look at my "sticky" post at the top of the Mk5 board, for the "free workshop manuals", and there is (I think) interior trim removal guides.
