hesitation on acceleration
« on: 22 March 2007, 23:31 »
i have a 1985 cabriolet with the jh 8v engine.
i have replaced :
injectors
cleaned the fuel tank
plugs
wires
distrubutior cap
fuel filter
control pressure regulator

i have done all this in the past summer and im still experiencing this problem the car hesitates and has seemed to have lost some power and has been verry hard on fuel .   i think the problem may be the fuel distributor or the cold start valve. could anyone give me and info they might have to help me solve this problem.

Is the filler neck rusty ?

Have you had the CO2 reading done ? They can hesitate a little and be very heavy on fuel if the fuel and air mixtures are out.

the filler neck was rusty when i bought the car but i have replaced it and i have also had the gas tank cleaned and the fuel pump replaced and several fuel filters.

the O2 sensor is brand new and working fine, its ALOT of hesitation and loss of power

JH I assume is a digifant engine right?  If so get the static & ignition timing checked, this is usually the cause of sluggish digifants.  Also worth noting that the ignition timing must be set to EXACTLY 6degrees BTDC at 2.25k rpm with the blue temp sender disconnected, otherwise it wont run right.

Also replace all your vacuum hoses with new stuff from VW, it wont cost much and is also a main cause of a sluggish digi engine!
