p.s. anyone else who has had this problem...do they just try and replace the hose with one exactly the same type or should I be insisting on a better, more robust type when I march in there today?

one of the comon mk4 probs im afraid!!!, along with window regulators and that strange come and go hinge creek on the drivers door!!, depend wether its just popped off or the attatchment is split?, id say it was cause your washer was frozen up then when u aplied it the pressue cause nozzle frozen popped it off spraying water/screen wash in your boot lid :(
at least u got dealer to get it sorted! did it me self but it is easy enough to repair

yeah, the only good thing out of all of this is that as it's a company car, I don't have to pay a penny to get it sorted.  Dealer said the could squeeze me in today, which is good cos I don't much like having to deactivate my alarm!

That is bizarre, I never new the intermittent squeaky hinge was a common fault, I thought I was the only one!

I'm lucky in as much that I haven't had the rear was/wipe fault yet, but judging byy the noise the drivers window make when going down in one touch mode, I reckon it won't be long before I'm afflicated with that problem!
