central locking again
« on: 22 March 2007, 11:18 »
Hi All,
Nice to see the site up and running again, well done, a good job done.

Need some advice please,
I've searched the forum on this but still unsure if it's the pump or something like a leak, can't here any leaks, but i'm old un deaf
So how do i tell if the air pump on my 91 Mk2 golf is on it's last breath? sometime's it will unlock all door's and other time's it wont lock any except the driver's door?
It make's the pump noise but dosen't shut off for a fair while, but, if you squeez the pipe on the pump in the boot it shuts the pump off/up!!  not looking to start throwing loads of money at the motor as wanting to trade in  :smug: and just spent £200 on having a new starter fitted.
I've taken the pump out the boot, and now use my remote to just open the drivers door.
Any help or info would be great.

Thanks.

Woo hoo
I think i finally sorted out my c/l at long last!! After trying a different pump, taking door cards off ect  and still nowt!!
It's a two person job    someone need's to blow down the pipe's from the c/l pump there's one pipe for left side door's and another pipe for the boot, petrol flap and right side door. Driver door always worked on fob
Blew down both first off and the right sdie back door pin popped up, plus petrol flap. Result!! That was yesterday  :smug:
While washing the motor this morning my neighbour walked over who's a fiddler of car's    and was telling him, we were playing about with the boot locking saw that was working, then traced the pipe from left side, red i think to pump, he blew down that and i was on the back seat listning for a leak!!  low-un-behold it was leaking at the door pillar at the T off (4)  under the carpet. another result  :smug:
You'd never of heard the leak while the c/l pump was going.
Dunno if i'll sell now
