they won't be happy until we're all riding in those damn prius things! mine's due on my 16v end of this month, £100 for 6 months of weekend driving.

I dont think it applies , for the older cars . As far as i can gather they are only increasing band 'g' cars . Mk3's are before 2001 so go on the standard tax rate which i believe to have risen slightly.

thats wat i thought... the new band only applies to new cars, this is wat ive found of t'internet

"In his Budget last year the Chancellor created a new top band G of vehicle excise duty for new cars with emissions over 225 grams per kilometre. At £210 a year this was £20 higher than the next band. Those in the band — labelled the Chelsea Tractors — include BMW X5s and Range Rovers. At present there are 225,000 of them.

Mr Brown made plain that the new band was not retrospective and did not apply to 4x4s and other heavily emitting cars bought before last April. They were put into Band F and will remain there."

i think the current tax prices are increasing slightly... but you boyo's with v6's wont end up paying £400 as it should only go up £20 - £30!

i hope.

Seems to only apply to newer cars gaz as I was sweating on the 4x4 bit with my Rallye. So for newer cars that don't have a CO2 rating it goes by engine size as it does now as far as I know so there may be an increase but not to £400 ! I managed to tax mine for a year last week before the budget and it cost me £175.

I love getting my camper taxed though, as it's free !
......now officially dubless.

i checked it out today and according to dvla Group G = cars registered after 23rd march 2006 with 225mg co2 per 100km, far as i could tell no car before that date will be group G so no stupid £300-400 tax on it. next is F which is aprox £200

Shouldn't make any difference to you Gaz it's all here but older than 01 and they just ain't bothered about anything but your engine size. older than that with a big engine and it'll be the same as last year plus a few quid. If you just bought a big engined car then they'll ask you to bend over when you go to the Post Office

like he said. Car's before 01 still go by their engine size for tax prices. <1.6 in one group. >1.6 in another.

Bettered get the edition one through the MOT and taxed quick before I get rinsed for another £10!

The joys of putting new engines into old shells :D
