All VW model badging was on the right as you look at the rear of the car. So yours is a CL (which is one or so steps up from 'poverty spec'). Since 1993, someone has stuck a GT badge on the other side. My advice is to remove it and stick it in the bin. Unless it's one of the cool 'euro spec' badges that got stuck on the official GT models in Deutchland, in which case you may stick it on in place of the CL badge.

And if you want to take a badge off without bu66ering your paint, stick a hairdryer on it for 2 mins first...
