newbie, advice
« on: 10 March 2007, 18:11 »
I understand this has probably been asked and may cause arguments, ect, but I have got around 20-22 k to spend on a golf GTI.
I dont want a bog standard one as I have had BMW 3 series before, so want leather, multifunction wheel, IPOD prep/cd autochanger, definately xenons and parking control and 18" alloys. I am having trouble finding a used one to match those specs, a new UK one is out as the price would be 27k+.
I have seen euro import (motorprovider.co.uk) for 5 dr £17645,xenon £700, leather £1200,alloys £400, Ipod/cd £270, park £285, wheel £320 all of which are much cheaper than UK, and totals less than 21k.
The things I cant decide on are colour,, red or Black mettalic (+£150)? and  manual or DSG?, also is the leather worth the money?, and winter kit is £200 but as far as i can tell i would get heated washer jets and low washer light? as the xenons give the light washers and leather seats are heated anyway.
sorry its long winded.

thanks
steel grey, 5 door , leather, parking sensors, IPod, 18" monza,MF wheel,  K&N filter , smoked rear lights and mirror indicators,,, no remap..... yet!!

I have leather in my TDi at the mo and personally wouldn't choose it again.

Reasons:-

Slippy compared with standard seats
Cold in winter until yer bum warmer kicks in and then yer sweat
Doesn't come with electric seat setting (apart from lumbar support - and how often do you move that!)
Would spend the money on other options or save the cash as it is still steep at £1200 on motorprovider

All IMO of course

I'd just ask yourself what you'll really use! I agree that leather adds a touch of class, but full leather wasn't for me which was why the ED30 model made sense (having just half!)

I'd have liked the Highline Computer, but I couldn't wait another two months and so took the car that was closest to what I wanted, when I wanted it!
