CLOCKS REV COUNTER /SPEEDO

Rev counter and speedo were not working when i bought my mk1 gti, so ive just put some 2nd hand ones in that were working when taken out of another gti.

They will not work at all. When the key is put into ignition digi display still shows but then on 1st turn it disappears.

Can anyone shed any light on this one, my cars in for MOT next week.

as long as the speedo works and is lit up, you'll pass the MOT.  It sounds to me like you have a dody earth, try running a fresh one from the clocks to an earthing point on the chassis
