GT TDI 150 Clutch

Getting my car up to near 200bhp but I was told by a tuning company its not worth doing any other mods to it such as Exhaust, Airbox etc etc beacuse the clutch will slip.  I am getting the ECU Re-mapped but they said they will limit it to ensure the life of the clutch.  How much will it cost to get the clutch changed by a garage if I get myself a heavy duty sports clutch?

:huh:  Mate, they talking out of their a**e!!  An induction kit & exhaust will give +10 bhp tops, so go figure!!!  :laugh:  Okay, granted, the re-map MIGHT put extra strain on the clutch over time, but to say no I.K. & exhaust is laughable, IMO.

Standard clutch is good for over 300 lb torque.  A good idea with replacement clutches is to get the G60 flywheel/Mk3 VR6 clutch (single-mass) which works out a hell of a lot cheaper than buying a standard 'dual-mass' kit.  Labour rates will vary from garage to garage, though - You're best off phoning a few local specialists for some guide prices.

Maybe I wasn't very clear.  What the guy was saying that it wouldn't be worth spending £200 on a Carbon Airbox etc etc for more BHP when they could Re-map it to get more bhp but wouldn't recommend mapping it higher without uprating a few things such as clutch.  What I might do it just got for it anyway and if the clutch slips or wears out, then get it changed for a better one.  As standard I think it puts out about 320 Nm 236 lb-ft and after Map etc etc is about 350Nm so if what your saying is true I wouldn't need a new clutch anyway.

get a panel filter they work better on diesels
and the clutch will be fine just as long as it is not remaped to anything over 220 bhp

I have a BMC Panel filter on it now.  I use them on my race bikes.  Cheaper than K&N too. I dont know why they are not as well known as they use then in F1 and other world championship winning teams...
