Rear View Mirror
« on: 28 January 2004, 12:50 »
The cold snap has caused my rear view mirror to drop off for the very first time since the car rolled off the production line!
I have never found a decent adhesive to secure them, on other cars, so can anyone offer a suggestion for a decent bond.
Thanks

I've tried the 'special' glue, that places like Halfords sell and it didn't work for very long. Found the best solution was to visit a windscreen replacement firm i.e Autoglass, and get them to do it.

Don't use any glue like araldite to secure a rear view mirror to the glass as it makes the glass flex differently and you'll get a cracked windscreen.

Problem sorted. As Rich suggested, I went to Autowindscreens in town, and they stuck it on for free - how kind, It did, however, cost me ?11 to get the rear puncture repaired that I got on my way in, when I ran over a nail. Have you ever tried finding and convincing a Tyre firm that 215/40/14 will fit on 14x9 rims when they had never even seen or heard of a tyre that size - great fun on a friday evening. My, how I laughed about it all!
