Cam related question

Had the rocker cover off my head tonight and noticed that one of the five things that sort of hold the cam in place looks broken off, but it looks like it has broken off very smoothly, they are numbered 1-5 but there is no no.4?  if anyone has pics of the cam in place would love to see just looks a bit od.

I have just replaced the rocker cover on my 8v gti with a mk3 aluminium cover, and when l looked at the head l thought that someone had machined it off. Probably was on the origional head casting but not required (i.e. to save money by using less parts) or it interfered with something or caused premature damage to the cam shaft or something

Yeah number 4 bearing cap was removed on later heads, probably a VW boffin thought he'd confuse us poor DIYer's!!  I nearly had a heart attack when I picked up a second hand head and found one missing half way through the strip down! As kegs said, all is as it should be.
