Subframe Bushes - Replacing
« on: 06 March 2007, 21:27 »
Hey guys, Im replacing my engine subframe soon (the rear one, which has the wishbones attached etc) and wondered which bushes I should replace at the same while its out and they are easier to get at?

Thanks in advance...

Also, would it be better to run OE or Powerflex?

there are only the steering rack bushes and the wishbones i believe. i've always been told to do the steering with poly's, the wishbones with OE apart from the horizontal cylindrical one which benefits from poly as well. i recently put poly bushed wishbones on and it makes the front a bit twitchy esp being as low as i am.

oh yeah you have pm on another matter ;)

right, thanks joe.

its already got new w/bones with powerflex bushes, new ARB drop links, new btm ball joints.

What about the inner ARB bushes? How many steering rack bushes are there, 2? Just most places I look at the powerflex etc only list 1 bush for the steering rack??

Oh, and Iv replied to your PM m8

yeah sorry arb's you want poly bushes and the steering rack will have 2 bushes as well. when i did my steering rack i got new brackets and everything and trying to do it on the car was a nightmare, there is no give in the poly bushes at all! even with the engine out it was a b!tch so i ended up dropping the subframe.
i have a powdercoated subframe ready to fit up when the 16vt goes in, makes life so much easier having it all done off the car and swapping it over, i did this with my rear beam as well.
