Working in a garage that looks after all types of vehicles, but mostly Peugeot, I have to say that the newer (97on) VAG models leave a lot to be desired, build quality, fit and finish of the VWs and Audis is exceptional, but, reliability is a joke!!... windows dropping out, relays packing up, gearboxes shagged after nominal mileage, matrix displays going west, wiper linkages seizing up, fuel injection problems, ignition coils by the dozen! the list goes on and on..these are all very common problems, and VAG should have done something long ago!
I'll stick to my MK2

Knew I spoke too soon  - my valver starts fine but the headlights/headlight washers etc are playing up :cry:Haynes wiring diagram here I come...generally I've always been impressed with older VW for relability...apart from my stepsons Mk2 1.3 is most unreliable bag of spanners I've even known - and it was previously owned by a vicar - too many stops for tea?
