Hi M8 - took me a while to find it to - remove the ashtray - to the left of the ashtray, there is what looks like a blank for a switch, slide it towards the empty ashtray socket and it behind that.

Virtually everything I know about the workings of the internal combustion engine can be written on the back of a small stamp with a large marker

Scotsman - mines a 98, one of the last MK3's, and the ciggy lighter is below the ashtray, so I don't know if they changed it from earlier cars, but to totally confuse you try :-

you were all correct. Its a dec 95 built model and the lighter is actually slightly below as the ashtray is deep. What i took for the top of the lighter socket trim was the sliding panel covering the socket lol  :embarassed:

Thanks guys

No mate -  im starting an auto-electronics business in my spare time (im an engineer in a PCB manufacturing company) and I got a proper ross-tech cable direct from the manufacturers in china as i am going to stock these and sell them amongst other car stuff. It is a lot cheaper trade than ross-tech charge! Their mark up is huge.

I could sell these for a low price (£70) and still make a decent profit. Its the full monty too usb/can/k-line/obd1/2 does all vw/audi from 1990 to 2006. ross-tech charge $360 for this one, its their top of the range cable (about £220) although they are really recovering money for the software by making the cable expensive. If they did it the other way round people would copy the software and just buy a cable.

A lot of the ebay ones are cheap copies and only do certain stuff and wont unlock or activate the full version of vag-com so loads of things can't be done like key + immobiliser matching, basic settings reset etc etc

This one is immediately recognised as a ross-tech interface and the software is fully activated after you scan your car once with it.

Would you guys buy at this price if I stock them? Just to get an opinion
