I had one of these short shift kits on my first MK2 Golf and it worked a treat !

I made up a short shifter using a different method (ignore the red stuff, that's something else):
Not sure what the other one does, but mine just shortens the forward/backward movement so you're not hitting 3rd instead of 1st gear. You can also decide exactly how much shorter you want it and you can put everything back to original in 5 mins.

yep i've got one and it works a treat. Reduces front to back movement by 30 or 50%. Fantastic bit of kit !!

check this one out, bolts onto the OEM one and much cheaper than £30!
I fitted one along with the uprated relay shaft bushes and its spot on.

I've actually emailed the guy, for sizes and drawings, doesn't have them he says though, can't blame for not sharing his ideas though!!

Rowlers that thing I made is the same thing I'll send you the dimensions I used if you want - I can't make them cheap enough to be worth it.
