Central locking problem
« on: 28 February 2007, 21:21 »
Does any1 know where to get a wiring diagram for the central locking system on my 96 vr6 highline 3dr?

I've just bought the car and the CL is behaving really wierd!! It works perfect when the ignition is on (using the spare key) but somtimes wont work when using it normally. Any sugestions??

I think it might be a poor connection or earth if it really does work better wi the ignition on.

Maybe an immobiliser fault. Do you have a VAG Scorpion system?

Im not sure what its got on it. ive just bought the car and theres no books with it. its just got a normal key with no buttons and theres no key fob if that helps.

the immobiliser works fine, its just the CL thats not working. Would a dodgy earth not stop it from working all the time??

not really it usually gives weird intermittent fails due to varying current flow when the earth connection is poor unless it breaks off completely then it wont work at all.

On the VR6 the software in the ECU probably has C/L control and diagnostics included. I know its in VAG-COM ver 607 which I have but my car is a 95 gti so only has controller access for engine, abs, airbag and immobiliser.

You might get a DTC if you get it scanned for faults.
