Well people this is starting to ware me down now oh and my bank acc
Today I went out to the garage this morning and it just cranked and cranked and yeah you guessed it cranked, so I put a recondition dizzy from GSF on when I got in from work and it fired up and the god damn rev counter still flicks about
So I go about cleaning all the earths again makeing sure they are all tight and it still flicks. As for the starting troubles I wont actually know untill the morning how its going to do. As for the misfire/ running problem well I'm to pi**ed off to take it out. So i'll chill for a while and let you know on that score.
I just know there is someone out there who has had this problem so any one at all if you can help me out here then please do so.
JOHN   any further ideas I know all I got left to change on the ignition side of things is the coil really but money is real tight now.

HELP PLEASE...................
Darren

Thanks for thr link lee.
John i bought a new coil today from GSF £15 so I got it fitted at lunch time and its still a b!tch to start.
The rev counter thing seems to have stopped now so i will go for a drive maybe later tonight and see if i still got the misfire. I adj the co2 to 2.3 today and i need to set up the timing i seem to remember reading some where on here the best way of doing that as well but as per usual I cant find it now
Any one got the link for a good timing set up on a mk2 16v ????
So any more suggestions on the poor starting keep em coming...
Cheers

£15 for a new coil seems a bargain!

Have you got anything left to replace???

Not sure on a how to.. for the timing, I think factory it is 6oBTDC, tuned engines as much as about 8oBTDC???
But not sure if you set the CO and idle first then fiddle with timing or other way round???
Its easy if you have a timing light, I could do with one!!!

*****Update*****

Well set the timing up yesterday via the gearbox (going to re do the CO2 on monday at work) then took it out for an hour's drive yesterday all through the rev rang all different speeds etc and the misfire has gone  from ear to ear
Oh and it started first time of asking but i have yet to try it today so we shall see but i'm a lot happier with the running issues sorted out now oh and a lot lighter in the pocket but thats the joys of motoring i spose  :undecided:

Cheers For all the help guys and i'll keep ya posted on the starting issue.

Darren

Went out in the car about 4.30pm started again 1st time
