Solid Engine Mount Group Buy?????????????????????????
« on: 27 February 2007, 10:25 »
hey all you 4 cylinder engined golfers....

i have a solid engine mount, i have sold plenty on here too!

recently i have had a few people ask me if i can still get them so if i get the amount needed to get another batch done then i'll get another set made up. i need at least 10, more like 15 to justify the set up cost of producing them.

cost will be around £55-£60 postage included.

advantages: better power delivery. more accurate gear shift. lasts forever. reduces engine movement, so great for those with satinless manifolds which are susceptible to cracking.

dis-advantages: bit more vibration.

if there is not enough interest then no-worries but these have been popular in the past so we'll see what happens!

D'oh! Bought a BBM one before Xmas from G-werks. Vibrations are worth it as the performance and gear change is vastly improved!

Mount 1 - Front of engine by radiator.

Mount 2 - Back of engine by manifold downpipe.

Mount 3 - Gearbox.

Prices on all 3?  :undecided:

Solid mounts are generally the front mounts only. I'd imagine your teeth would rattle out if you had all solid mounts....

yeah sorry, front mount only. this is because the front mount gets pulled as the engine tries to move backwards under load, this is why the fronts fail. the rears are compressed so last a hell of alot longer.

suitable for all 4 cylinder transverse engines, be it 8v, 16v, g60 and i think they even do 1.8t conversions. definately fit mk2's and corrado's but i will check about a mk3 fitment len. wont fit mk1, mk4 or mk5.

i should have put more detail from the start! i assumed too much! :P
