R32 Engine Swap
« on: 27 February 2007, 00:48 »
My brother in law & me are looking for a project to while away the hours (get away from the other halves!) we were thinking of doing a mk2 1.8T but have been offered a R32 engine complete with gearbox from a breaker friend at a ridiculously low price.

So my question is simple:

Will it fit! We intend to fit the mk4 shifter, steering column & obviously the wiring loom, ecu & cluster as well as uprated brakes. but is the engine physically able to fit into the engine bay?

I've found plenty of info on 1.8t swaps but nothing on the R32?

I asked about this and JBS (I think) quoted £9000 plust vat, and then anything extra for more ponies would be more. It could be around £16k for t to be a nutters car!

I have seen one or two R32 converted Mark 2's, the above one plus there was a Golf+ issue last Feb or March with a red one in that had it done, maybe if you order that issue of Golf+ plus it might help you.

I saw this car (the red one) at last years Ultimate Dubs

F#ck me i bet it's quick ?!!!
Computer games don't affect kids, I mean if Pac Man affected us as kids, we'd all be running around in darkened rooms, munching pills and listening to repetitive music.
