What a s*&t weekend, has your's been better?
« on: 26 February 2007, 00:30 »
Friday - Car stalls and won't restart after driving through a puddle.  She turned and turned and after about a 10 min wait eventually started but ran rough for an age eventually settling down.  I'm guessing that I wasn't getting a spark, but diagnosis stopped there as it was pissing it down.  Anyone out there with experience of what's in the firing line for the wave of water coming up into the engine bay on a Mk2 Valver? No recurrences since then, but IÂ’ve been avoiding puddles (small floods) like the plague!

Sun - Discover i've been losing coolant, topped her up and drove home.  Seems to have been doing this for a while, options to check so far are are the plastic flanges on the block but is there any other common problems I should go looking for.

But to top my weekend off I clipped a rock in the verge of a country lane near my folkÂ’s house and bent the rim.  I'm guessing it won't be repairable so IÂ’m in the market for a replacement BBS RA 15" in silver.  The remaining three are in good shape and would definitely be worth a refurb.  Anybody out there with a spare wheel they'd be interested in selling please get in touch.  Although she's only my daily drive I would consider getting a set of refurbed wheels, but would anyone be interested in a deal on my three straight wheels and cash for a set of refurbed RAs in silver?

All solutions / suggestions welcome from selling up, pushing off a cliff to waving a magic wand gratefully received.

Hope you've had a better weekend!!!!

Not too sure if i can help you out or not, on Vzi forum theres a guy called rocco jocco i think that's his username, not sure if he's registered on here or not, but he sells one loada refurbed wheels and at very descent prices, if you can contact him, or if you want me to contact him asking if he'd drop the price on a set of wheels for exchange of your 3 wheels or if he has another spare BBs one then i can ask him, best PM me if you want me to as i'll probably loose this thread somewhere.

I had the same problem with the water twice, replaced the rotor arm, ht leads and dizzy cap cos I was so paranoid bout it happening again but check the leads for wear cos one of mine had sparks flying out of it im not exactly mechanically minded so thats all i can offer.

It's had rotor arm / dizzy cap / leads recently (in the last year) but I guess that's where i'll have to start, in the meantime i'm going to avoid those puddles!

Did you cure the problem?

thanks mate

mine ran as you described after i had the engine steam cleaned a few weeks ago! took a few hours to sort its self out. I find the worst problem with puddles is my power steering cutting out! that can be really scary on dual carriage ways!
