Speed camera dectectors
« on: 21 February 2007, 12:23 »
Hi

Sorry if I have posted this in the wrong place.

I what to get a fixed and laser dector camera and was wonder which one you guys would recomend. I want one that picked up both and that is fairly small and nice in apperance!

Is the road angle plus the best or is there better things out there. Any links or info would be great.

Thank you

Nathan

I have an Origin B2, always been spot on, gets brilliant write ups and is reasonably priced. See www.originb2.com but check out ebay before you buy, I got mine new for £180.

So it works on your GTI despite the fact that laser/radar detectors are not mean to work through these new athermic blue tinted windscreens?

Well, as you may recall, I don't have her yet. But they should work through any screen that does not have heated elements in it such as Ford use.

I can update you for sure next week, but the Doc was placing GPS detectors in the dash for home installed sat nav jobs so it should work.

I had heard similar things about the front screen. If it is UV relpellant or heated there can be issues, but road angel say they give you a special arial to over come this?

I ran a Road Angel 2 through the front screen of my Jan 2005 Golf GTi with no problems at all. The only thing I did was to remove the centre rear headrest

I bought a road Angel plus last month and I'm very please with it, I can't compare with others as I've not used any, but the RAP has it's own batery, so no nasty cable, well not until 8 hours or so. It's also lights up blue so compliments the GTI interior.

You can switch off the voice warning feature (Tiff Needlel) , and just have it pleep at you, or just have in flash, with no voice at all.

just ensure you unplug these from the fag lighters when youve parked, otherwise you will be popular with the neighbours if you or they use sky satelite, snooper version also causes major picture break up on certain channels because the frequency they ommit even with the ignition turned off.  I know this because i work for sky tv and regually get call outs for this very problem!
