Gearbox leak

The plate at the end of my gearbox was caked in mud so i decided to give it a good blast with the jetwash on Sunday ... typically I have now triggered a gearbox oil leak from the `VW` plate that sits on the end of the gearbox (I think)  :cry: . Is this a common fault and whats the best way to repair it? Im thinking maybe pulling that end plate off and popping it back on with some kind of sealant on there but is that possible? Is it meant to come off without wrecking it?

pop the plate out and replace it with a new one, you will loose a bit of gearbox oil though.  Best to replace the release bearing while you're there, and have a good look at the clutch finger for damage! Check out Broke's site for more info:

Cheers. Im pretty numb when it comes to gearboxes, what does the release bearing look like?

It's all on broke's site, but being Americanised its called the TO bearing (Throw Out)
