Black or Silver wheels? - My ED30 pics
« on: 16 February 2007, 13:21 »
Had a problem with one of the wheels but the dealer has now repalced the damage one from stock (don't ask me why they have German Spec wheels in the UK but they do!)
Anyway had a sneaky peak at my car - needs a bloody good clean - and took some photos....

 Mmm - which ones?

Tidy M3's that have been in storage for quite some time....

The black monzas definately look the business on your silver Ollieb7.

I'm sticking with my theory that it depends on the colour of the car though - the UK wheels looked superb on the diamond black one in my local stealer

The 3/4 Front on view does look well with the wheels  complementing the Black surround of the grill. My ownly concerns are due to having black wheels on my own MK3 Golf

1) The one and only time I've ever scuffed my wheel was with a black rim! ok it touched up but it wasn't a flat surface like the Monza's
2) When I put my silver wheels back on, I was surprised how good the car looked! (The black where the same style)

I agree with laney and it does make a difference with the colour of the car. They would look naff on my E30 in black, Silver & Red does look good.

At the end of the day it's if you like em, however I wouldn't sell the original wheels, it could help sell the car on and I think trying to buy replacement originals in years to come could be difficult.

I bet you can't wait for March!!

I'm still hoping mine will be here soon!

I haven't like the look of those BBS style ones since the first pics of the ED30 came out but they look great in those photos with the silver car. That said, the black monzas look great but would be a nightmare to keep that way I reckon!! Good luck and lovely car!

Silver !

Black looks OK, just doesnt look that striking with the blackies on.

Almost looks like it has huge tyres

Chips and scratches mite be a problem dude with the blackies - then they will just look tatty

All IMO you understand

The blacks look meaner IMO, I just wonder how well they's wear when hit with a few stones and brake dust, would they mark up easily?

Hey Ollie

Can you take pix of each of the front wheels, full-on close ups, like you did with the rear left in pic #3, only a little closer.

I just wanna see how much of the brake caliper is hidden behind the non-Monza rims!

Thnx

Fraid i couldn't as that stupid ladder was in the way - I have this pic though which may give you a hint

I'll take some more if you wish once i get the car.

I fully appreciate what some of you are saying about the danger of scratches but i think this will balance out with the fact that they will be easier to clean. Also i couldn't agree more with these wheels being wrong on a black car! But with silver i'm well chuffed - tempted with black mirriors though to finish off!
The Pescaras will still be up for sale as i see no point in keeping them in my attic for three years and after all bloody cars loose there value so much anyway that i don't think it will make much difference - the car still looks stock after all!

Mmm...tough choice

I do prefer the Pescara myself, but I can see why you've gone for the black Monzas

Is that down at the bodyshop/storage yard of the dealer...I'm guessing the owner (John Clark) has that M3 stored there for himself

Mine hasn't arrived at dealers yet...should be within the next week or so apparently
