help Best way to remove my 16v engine from my car in a weekend

it is easyer to keep down pipe conected 2 manifold but seperate it from middle pipe, drop the whole lot take off front panle pull it all forwards saves so much time good luck

Piccie of it looking like it's been hit by a bus! not bad at all to strip down Exhaust was a pain but all doable from above itching like a bugger from the heatwrap on the manifold

good stuff! its not too bad a job is it?! the re-build will be fun though, its amazing how much space an engine takes up when its in bits!

No not too bad better than I expected and only 1 dodgy nut on the gearbox that needed some dremel power! Stripping it down over this week and weekend then clean it all up and see whats what and which bits need renewing, got quite a list of bits that I want to do but see how bad other bits are first! I have boxes on standby to fill with engine!! new gasket set and head bolts to start with and then on from there!!
I just got myself an 8v gearbox which is now sat out in the garage and I'm debating whether to get it rebuilt or not!

Picture time, she's almost completely in bits now! can't get the oil cooler off as the nut is bigger than my biggest spanner, and I had to buy a Spline drive set and take the exhaust cam almost out to get the socket in! Other than that I'm getting there!!

Piston and bores look fine not sure whether to do the piston rings or not...?



Head is coked up and needs valve stem oil seals doing If I can get the bloody cams out!

WoooHooo it's ALIVE!! few niggly things to sort tomorrow but she's running like she should Super Chuffed!

good work fella!!! engine looks good too, but you know i'm gonna say you should've cleaned the engine bay while you had the chance!
