Wishbones, any variation in quality???
« on: 15 February 2007, 13:39 »
I need to replace both front wishbones/bushes on my golf.
I had priced them up on GSF at £37 per wishbone incl bushes and about £10 per bottom balljoint.
I've now found them on ebay, brand new with bushes and bottom balljoint fitted with a buy-it-now price of £22.50!!!

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150059787305&fromMakeTrack=true

My question is can the quality of these parts vary dramatically enough to put me off buying these unknown parts?
Should I just stick with my original plan and buy the BQ parts from GSF?
The overall difference in price will be about £40.

Cheers
Toby

the wishbone itself is probably fine but i'd like to use the best quality bushes, pain in the ass if those ones only last 5 mins!

Hmmm that was my exact thought joe, a wishbone's a wishbone surely but when it comes to bushes I guess there could be a lot of difference. Having said that though, what's to say that they won't be the exact same bushes that are fitted to the gsf wishbones, after all they are all pattern parts. I just priced the gsf stuff up and if you buy the wishbones and bushes separately it comes to £25.50 (without bottom balljoint though), it's only when you buy the wishbone with the bushes ready fitted that it suddenly goes upto £37.60

I suppose I could buy the cheaper ebay ones and if the bushes turn out to be sh!te I could upgrade to some poly ones at a later date. I'm planning to fit eibach arbs with poly bushes at some point this year anyway.
Tough decision without having either of the parts in your hand to compare them!!!

Sorry more waffling follows

Just did a proper price comparison and I'd still want to order the BQ balljoints from gsf and I'd still need the arb links so I'd still be placing an order with gsf. If I order the whole lot it's free p&p which would save the £10 p&p I'd pay on the ebay bits.
In the end the difference comes down to £15.50..............sod it I'll go with the whole lot from gsf, stick with what I know and trust!!!
