If you go in they use a computer, input info and it works it out on your annual milaege. The more miles you do the more services you will need, hence the price difference. If you under estimate the miles there is a penalty per mile over what you have agreed to. The computer is a vw system and not the stealers.

I asked my dealer for a quote on fixed cost servicing yesterday, he came up with these figures based on an annual mileage of 12,000. Basic servicing £14.76p a month, service and maintenance £20.99p, or the latter with tyres £33.92p a month. If you increase your annual mileage to 20,000 the cost of the plan increases dramatically, if you go down to 8,000 its nearly the same as for 12,000. The thing is my first service on long life with my MK V GTi cost me £190 at 20,240 miles, I reckon I'd be better just having it serviced when the indocator says, cheaper too. I discussed long life with salesman yesterday, he says if factory set it, fine not a problem. My MK V GTi was on it and I had no problems so looks like I will stay with it.

My MR2 was in for a service yesterday and when I went to pick it up she told me about their fixed price option.  She said she'd get me a quote printed off and sent to my home (she didn't take any details eg mileage though ).  The main selling point she was using was that it would all be based on the current labour and consumables rates so you'd save on any inflation.  I'll see what the quote is but what she was saying seemed to make sense so I may be tempted

Cass what car have you got?  I'm assuming it must be an R32 if the Edition 3o is costing £10 - its still doesn't make sense.

Sorry, had no internet for the last week courtesy of Virgin Media - back online now

I have a GTI which is privately owned and I will just pay for my annual service when it is due next September. I estimate my annual mileage will be about 8000 and I haven't had a quote for any fixed servicing plan yet.

For my Gti on 10k a year I was quoted £14.35 a month for servicing, £17.70 for servicing and maintenance (almost called that S+M!!) and £24.44 for servicing, maintenance and tyres.

Really not sure it's worth it. Mind you, the price that Ollieb quoted on the ED30 seems to be a steal.

OK here's aquestion for the geeks out there. VW recommend an air con service at the end of year 2 for £90.

My question is.... Is this £90 service covered by the 'service' option on the fixed cost maintenace schemes???
