MY08 changes, Any info??

Hi,

IÂ’m just about to change my Â’06 GTI for a new R32. 

Anybody know about any model / spec changes for the MY08 car. IÂ’ve seen a touch screen sat nav with Bluetooth  and I wouldnÂ’t mind holding off ordering the car for a few months if it meant I could spec something like that.

Any help appreciated.

When do the new MY generally get released? Would it be fo cars delivered from September?

Last I heard was that VW's new premier was delaying the introduction of all proposed VW models including the next generation Golf, Scirocco, Tiguan and Passat Coupe, until some corporate design issues have been resolved. See links here:

He's talking about a different thing to the changes your talking about.  MY = Manufacturers Year, he's asking about what changes there might be for this MY.  Its fairly traditional, e.g. the GTI for MY07 has had Green tinted glass among other small changes where as in previous year the glass was Blue Tinted.

Womble is correct, I was referring to any spec changes – such as new sat nav or other stuff that VW could choose to include. Looks like there are no big changes, so I might as well order it soon.

I think the new MY cars are available to order from June and are delivered late summer time. I could be wrong.

Thanks for the links Cass, hadnÂ’t seem them before. I was tempted to wait for the arrival of the RSI golf at the end of the year, I think its looking less and less likely now and if it does arrive it will have the S3 engine. I was hoping for an R36! 

Porsche taking control of VW? Sounds good to me!

I was hoping there would be a VW dealer or someone in the know here, that could tell me about the MY08 changes. Any chance?

All I can see is a change to silver surround for the heater radio controls, and the addition of dipping N/s door mirror with the PDC or luxury option?

Theres normally a letter sent out to dealers last week of April to inform them of MY## changes.
After that letter is sent any factory order becomes the next model year according to the letter.
Production starts in May and first cars arrive around mid June.

. • Automatic employment of warning lights under emergency braking
. • 3 large head rests in the rear
. • Whiplash optimised headrests
. • Change to front courtesy light – discontinuation of the middle lamp and housing is no longer lacquered
. • Radio and navigation systems – change to chrome surrounds on knobs, see picture below:
. • Change of icon on the lock/unlock button, see picture below:
. • Location of the airbag warning label will be on the B pillar rather than next to the windscreen
. • Centre console foot space covering for front passengers in black only (beige and grey discontinued)
. • The option of Isofix child seat preparation (for the front passenger seat) on Golf and Golf Plus has been removed from ordering for Model Year 2007.
. • blue-tinted glass on the GTI Golf will be changing to green tinted
. • radio is more silver on the buttons
