Mk2 G60 >>> Mk2 VR6
« on: 13 February 2007, 22:49 »
Hi, would it be just as easy to start with a Mk2 G60 for a VR6 conversion, as it would a 16v GTI Mk2? Or is there any reason why it cannot be carried out on a G60?What do you guys recommend for a VR6 conversion anyway, starting out with a 16v GTI or G60?

Thanks

Assuming the 16v has the later wiring I don't think it would make much difference really.... Fuse box side of the wiring is simmilar.
Why get rid of a G60 Though?  is it knackered? :undecided:

For a friend of mine, currently has a G60, but wants to go VR6 and keep the mk2 shape. Yeah, does seem a shame to get rid of the G60, I mentioned selling the G60 and buying a 16v, use spare cash for conversion, we'll see what happens, thanks for input anyway

He could actually buy a 90 spec Digifant 8v which should be cheaper than an equivalent 16v, then put the VR6 in that.

i'm guessing its an original g60? if so then should be left hand drive. if he doesn't want a lhd g60, sell it as a whole car and use the money for a mk2 and a vr6 lump to throw in there. waste of a genuine car otherwise.
if its not a genuine g60 then its up to you!
there is a website www.mk2vr6.com or something like that... a website specificaly for the mk2 vr6's funnily enough, he might even find a half finished project or a complete car which might be worthy of buying.
team grumpy....... its a way of life, not a forum post
