Mk2 GTi Owners - What do you use for Fuel Hoses?
« on: 13 February 2007, 18:41 »
Mine are both perished and with the stealers quoting me near on £80 for replacements I can't be paying it.  I was given some fuel hose which had a 10mm internal diameter but it's too big and even when done up with jubilee clips the fuel gushes out.

So does anyone know what the internal diameter of the GTi fuel hoses are so that I can purchase some fuel hose from Halfrauds to get the old girl running?

If it's defintely 8mm then I can get some from Halfrauds fro a fiver.  Cheers for that.  Just cringe when doing up the jubilee clips on the fuel rail as it's only plastic.

Just make sure the hose you get is suitable for injection systems :)
Edit: Defo 8mm, I just bought a length of hose from halfords, it even came with a pair of new fuel clips.

Yup, just what I was going to go for.

I don't want to go for braided as there would be little or no benfit in it.  Cost is an issue and I just need to get the car running again and MOT'd.  This is a track car rather than a show car, hence it's not looking pretty at the moment.  Maybe next year though.

And what do I do today?  Buy some 8mm, get home all chuffed to bits.  looks at the back of package and in the smallest bloody writing ever it says Not for use on Fuel injection systems.  DAMN.
